It was like talking with a friend… It’s a few days later and I’m still smiling. The conversation I had with my guest Rene Syler on Real Chicks Rock! Presents Real Discussions was nothing less than delightful. Rene was born in Illinois but grew up near Sacramento, CA. As a psychology major, Rene saw a newspaper article that helped her chart her course differently. Reading about an African American female news anchor in Boston and seeing how much she was making, got to Rene thinking. Since Rene felt she was good at telling stories and a good communicator, she applied for intern positions at a CBS affiliate and the rest became history. Rene shared with us her time on CBS – The Early Show, the firing from the show, why it happened, and what transpired next for her. I’ll fast forward a bit to tell you that Rene is full of life, taking good care of herself, loving her 2 adult children, and taking things one day at a time.
